How to Log In to a Belkin Router for the First Time

The default login information for a Belkin router depends on the model. Not all Belkin routers use the same login information, so you might have to try a few before you can get in. Try these:

Default usernames: admin, Admin, [blank]Default passwords: admin, password, [blank]

Some Belkin routers use admin as the username, while others may use Admin (with an uppercase A). Using the information above, try admin and admin, Admin and password, or log in without a username and password (if they’re both blanks).

Chances are, though, that your Belkin router doesn’t have a username by default, or it uses admin. Most Belkin routers don’t come from the factory with passwords.

If You Can’t Get in With the Default Username and Password

If the default username and password combinations don’t work, the password was changed at some point after the router was purchased, in which case the default password will no longer work.

The easiest way to get the default username and password back is to reset the router to its factory default settings through a hard reset. Here’s how:

With the router turned on, press and hold the Reset button for 30 seconds. The physical Reset button is on the outside of the router, usually on the back of the router, next to the internet ports. Continue to hold the Reset button while you unplug the router for 30 seconds. Still holding the Reset button, power on the router and hold for another 30 seconds. Release the Reset button.

The router is now reset to its initial factory condition. Most Belkin routers use admin for the username and password for the password, but not all of them, so you may have to try the alternates suggested earlier in this article.
