That is the general setup and the story doesn’t go beyond that. This is fine considering Labyrinth Legend is a dungeon crawler. It can be refreshing to see a modern title focus on gameplay over story. It’s a pretty simple gameplay loop to understand as well. For those that are lost, these tips should help clear some things up.
7 There Are Three Difficulties
Players can choose to start the game on either Casual, Normal, or Veteran difficulty levels. There is no need to worry about which one to choose right away. Any difficulty can be changed within the hub town. It should also be noted that every dungeon will eventually unlock ways to beef up the challenge.
It would have been great to see even more flexibility and assist options in the game, but what Labyrinth Legend has now should make players of all types happy. The best word of advice is to start on Normal and then either increase or decrease from there. If people plan to play the entire game on co-op then Normal is especially recommended.
6 Don’t Worry About Classes
Players can choose from three classes in Labyrinth Legend: Strider, Wizard, and Nightcrawler. Strider is like the typical Fighter or Warrior type class in other RPGs. The Wizard is self-explanatory, while players the Nightcrawler is similar to a Rogue.

No matter what class players choose, they all function relatively the same. Each class gets one bonus ability and that is about it. Like the difficulty levels, don’t fret right away. If the class isn’t feeling good then players can always try another one out. They can create up to four characters on one profile. This can be done at the tavern in town.
5 Co-Op And Monsters
As mentioned earlier, Labyrinth Legend features local couch co-op. This is why the game lets players create multiple characters. It is odd that there are four character slots but only three classes. That seems like a misstep, but players needn’t worry about that.
The game is relatively accessible alone but things get better with a friend. If players don’t have access to a co-op buddy then be sure to head to the monster island. Here, players can find monsters that will give them buffs during battle as long as they are nearby it. This is a good substitute so don’t forget about it in town.
4 Nothing Lost In Death
Labyrinth Legend features procedurally generated dungeons. However, while there are some roguelike elements to the game, Labyrinth Legend is not a true roguelike. There is no punishment in death or a resetting of stats. Once players acquire gold and items as well as gain levels, that is it.
It can be frustrating to go into a dungeon and die several times. However, players can at least take solace knowing their efforts aren’t in vain. The more players grind, the easier the game will become. Practice makes perfect.
3 What To Buy First
There are a lot of options for players to spend gold on in Labyrinth Legend. The first thing they should do is head to the general store and upgrade potion capacity. Inventory space should also be upgraded. After that, it would be wise to buy a weapon skill.
Labyrinth Legend has a lot of weapons in it, from standard swords to more exotic options like whips that cover wide areas. All of these weapons have an associated magical skill that can be purchased. Once players find a weapon they like, that skill will be costly but worth it.
2 Don’t Sell The Good Stuff
An easy way to make money is to sell equipment. Don’t go mad with power though just to save on storage space. If a weapon or piece of armor is inscribed with a special trait, save it. Don’t forget that multiple characters can be created.

Saving gear means that these new characters can get a leg up with the best equipment possible. If a piece of gear, like a sword, is gray then go ahead and sell it. Likewise, if a rare item has weak traits and has no accompanying skills, sell that piece too.
1 Try All Weapons
Before buying a weapon skill, it is encouraged to try all weapons out. Depending on the player, this could take a while. Labyrinth Legend seems to favor swords and spears as typical loot drops. It is a bit harder to get fancier weapons like hammers or whips.
Try every weapon. That’s the first piece of advice. Second, always have one melee and one ranged weapon equipped. This could be a bow and sword or a spear and boomerang. It could even be a spell matched up with a weapon. It doesn’t matter as long as one weapon or spell is melee focused and the other is ranged. Certain battles call for different tactics.
Labyrinth Legendwas released on January 18, 2022 for the Switch. It’s also available on PC.
