Featuring both PVE and PVP elements, this cooperative multiplayer experience has been heralded to be a mesh of Destiny and Returnal, with a side dash of Fortnite and Splatoon. Leaving early access, Arcadegeddon is a polished, casual shooter that showcases an enticing, fun art style with tight gunplay. Players will need a few pointers before going in guns blazing should they wish to completely free Gilly’s establishment from the shackles of corporate greed.

5 Players Should Take Their Time

Although the game is fast-paced, with players wanting to clear areas as fast as possible, players should also remember to slow things down and check their surroundings. Players will need to keep sight of their objectives which surprisingly can be lost as the game’s popping visuals and soundtrack will pull focus.

A lot is going on in Arcadegeddon and players should take a moment during battle lulls to ensure they’re headed in the right direction. Players should also note that there will be nearby health stations (Pay 2 Live) that they can use to replenish HP. Players will simply need 100 credits to get juiced back up.

4 Smash Everything

Each map will have loads of crates that can be destroyed. Players will want to do so as there are a vast array of various pickups and items. Some of these crates will drop objects such as additional ammo, health, and even new weapons and hacks. There may even be several golden caches lying around, so players will want to keep their eyes peeled.

Explosives will also be dotted around the map and can be used to the player’s advantage. These explosives will not do any damage to the player, so gamers should utilize them as much as possible to wound and take out enemies.

3 Hacks

As mentioned earlier, Hacks are essentially modifiers that will allow players to purchase items for less and will increase player health and damage output. Hacks can be found in chests located throughout the map.

Players will want to access the hack menu to see what they’ve attained so far. As the level progresses, players will also be able to see a Boss Run Progress on the screen. At some point, players will be able to find a portal that will transport them to the boss fight. Before the confrontation, players should explore the map and gather as many hacks as they can as it will improve their characters immensely.

2 Variety Is The Spice Of Life

Armageddon is a treasure trove of weapons, featuring various assault rifles, snipers, and strange elemental blasters. Meanwhile, melee weapons are also up for grabs. Though most players will find a favorite early on, players are also advised to experiment with their arsenal as doing so may mean missing out on a better weapon at a higher rarity, especially ones that do mega damage.

It is important to note that enemies will gradually spawn around the player regardless of how far they progress through the level. This presents a good opportunity for players to test out different guns and ways to take out foes. At the start of the game, players will only be able to hold onto 2 weapons, but it’s possible to increase that to 3. Players looking to enhance their avatar’s look can meet up with Gilly and purchase cosmetic upgrades and new skins. Changing looks can be done at the Green Vending Machine located at the center of the arcade shop.

1 Boss Fights

As mentioned, a Boss highlighter will appear on the top-right screen. This will create a portal for the player to enter the boss arena. To activate the portal, players will need to shoot the red crystal in front of it.

During some of the earlier boss encounters, players can activate their early abilities which can remove shields. Doing so will allow the player to melt the boss’ health. To conserve ammo and do heavy damage, players can go in and knock the boss with the baseball bat. Repeat several times to achieve victory. Once the battles are over, players will open loot crates and receive multiple boons and rewards. Players will want to equip Crit Cards as they will improve the % output of several weapons and abilities.

Arcadegeddonis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
