That is until the player character happens upon a magical staff, the Audros Bell, which can bring people back from their stone encasings. Whoever holds this staff is a warrior of legend, the Bellwielder. That’s the general premise, but here are some more things for beginners to be aware of before they start Anuchard.
8 There Are Assist Options
There are no difficulty levels in the game. However, for those struggling with Anuchard, there are assist options. Players can adjust the level of defense from 0 to 50 to 100 at max. 100 meaning that players are invincible.
It’s a cheat for sure, but some gamers just want to experience the journey and aren’t worried about striking any sort of grand achievement. For those types of players, knowing this is in the game is a good thing before jumping in.
7 Saving Warnings
Anuchard is one of the few recent indie games that does not support autosaves. That’s commonplace in almost 99.9% of video games. If games do remove autosaves and checkpoints, usually they at least allow for saving anywhere. That is also not the case with this game.
There is one save point in the entire game and it is in the Elder’s House. There are nine save slots though, so that’s a plus at least. It’s important to emphasize this to players who are used to autosaves. They’ll need to remember to manually save Anuchard before heading into a dungeon or logging off.
6 Defeat Ranged Enemies First
This is one of the most common tips in any action game, be it top-down, 3rd person, RPG, or otherwise. If there are ranged enemies on the field, players should aim to eliminate them first. They will always have the advantage. Sniper hits can take a lot of HP out of one’s character.

Thankfully, they are easy to take down in Anuchard, unlike other enemies that often have a trick to them. Even though there may be more pressing game issues at hand, those ranged enemies need to go down ASAP. It’ll save a lot of headaches.
5 Dashing Into Enemies
One of the more unique gameplay elements Anuchard introduces into the action game genre is its dash attacks. Players have a light attack and a heavy attack. However, this heavy attack is more like a dodge combined with a tackle.
It can be used to slam enemies into walls for a good amount of damage. However, its main purpose is to disable the shields of certain enemies. It can also be used on objects like giant rocks to hit multiple targets, so players should be sure to experiment with the mechanic.
4 Don’t Forget To Eat Food
After the first main dungeon, players will unlock the cafe. The more main and side missions they complete thereafter, the more food will become available for them to cook. For example, the first two items will give the player’s staff a ranged attack on top of giving them more HP.
This is yet another thing that is becoming more standard in RPGs. So much so, in fact, that after the first couple of dungeons, players may start to forget that it’s even there. It’s therefore a good idea to keep a checklist of things to do before and after dungeons.
3 Look Out For Hidden Paths
The dungeons in Anuchard are reminiscent of the ones found in The Legend of Zelda series. In other words, a lot of them are puzzle-based like the dungeons in that series. There are puzzles involving glowing balls, hitting switches, gliding across starry chasms, and so on.

There are also navigation puzzles, but whether the developer intended them or not is unknown. There is no map in the game, meaning that it can be hard to get around. With this in mind, players should be aware that some black borders can be passed through. There are secrets everywhere.
2 Cut Grass Like Link
Another thing that links Anuchard to The Legend of Zelda is the grass situation. Dungeons are littered with tufts of grass just waiting for players to ravage them with their weird bell-like staff. It may not be the Master Sword, but it gets the job done.
However, there are no money drops in the grass this time around. Instead, players will find energy crystals. This energy can be converted into healing magic, which is good for when boss time rolls around.
1 The Tinis Planner
The upgrade system should unlock after the second dungeon. Players may have enough to buy something right away, but that upgrade won’t be cheap. Most upgrades cost stones and vines which are hard to come by. Instead of spending materials haphazardly, it may therefore be a good idea to save them up for the Revive perk.
This will allow players to revive up to 40% of their health when they drop dead. Like the tip about healing, it will become important for bosses later down the line. There is a related upgrade that players should b-line toward after that which will generate more healing crystals between enemies and grassy spots.
Anuchard was released on April 21, 2022, and is available on PC, Switch, and Xbox One.
